to reach nearly 6 million tonnes, according to the Vietnam Food
Association (Vietfood).
So far this year, rice enterprises have exported 4.9 million tonnes and
the global demand for rice always rises at the end of this year,
therefore Vietnam's rice exports should increase in the near future.
Although the world's price of rice tends to fall, Vietfood still keeps
its rice exports at a stable level to ensure a profit for both farmers
and businesses.
Enterprises are exporting 5 percent broken rice at US$400 per tonne and
25 percent broken rice for US$350 per tonne. Those floor prices follow
the Government's guidelines on guaranteeing prices for farmers at
VND3,800 per kilogram.
The price of rice in the Mekong Delta is now fluctuating between
VND4,100-4,200 per kilogram.
